In addition to hunting for clues, the town holds a "Dinghy Derby Race," broken into corporate and amateur divisions.

And then... it's over. The runners are tired, but the people inside are exhilarated. A winner is declared, and awards are passed out. The street clears, and the townsfolk return to the mystery of the murdered captain.
