Murder Mystery Weekend! Part I.

I spent this weekend hanging out in downtown Port Orchard, where my small town planned a mystery, with townspeople as detectives.  A pirate captain had escaped from jail, where she was being held for last year's murder.  Upon her escape, a search party was created, and her dead body was found soon after. We were tasked with solving this crime.

1. The crime scenes were well thought out, and nearly all the local businesses participated.  This was a crime scene in the Puget Sound Wine Cellar....

2. There was a pirate costume contest. Oh, yes. The contest was broken into three parts. This girl, calling herself the Black Rose, took first place for the second year in a row.

3. Another hopeful struts her stuff.

4. There are a group of "pirates" that camp downtown, in the center of activity.  They hail from OR, and are known as the B.O.O.M. pirates.

5. Various local volunteers dressed up as pirates, and, lines in hand, canvassed the town as suspects. This particular pirate was stopped by a family who had some questions to ask.

6. The adult costume contest was just as energetic, although not as large. This man dressed as Captain Jack Sparrow, and took first place.

7. I think this guy should have won.

8. Yelling at the crowd... just like a pirate!

9. Aha! I've won!

10.  B.O.O.M. Pirates are friendly people, in spite of their evil tendencies. :P

11. Doesn't this just look... perfect?  I mean, it's like, James Bond.

12. He remind me of King Julian, from Madagascar, in this shot. "Ooh, I won!"

13. The kids' costumes were great. :)  Everyone looked awesome, and no one cried! Woo-hoo!

14. This little guy was just too cute.

15-17. Arg! Invasion of the Sound!

22-23. My friends' dog, Duchess. She's a chocolate lab, and as adorable as can be.

23. A grocery list for a pirate? Must be an embargo! This was part of the crime scene at the local 7-11, which we ate at multiple times through out the weekend.

24. The chalk outline of Captain Charlegne's body.

24-28. This was the scene of the crime, located right in front of town hall.  It was cordoned off by police, courtesy of the local force, and was set up to look like a picnic had scarcely been had before she was poisoned.  Notice the spilled wine? It was poisoned. Notice the letter? Part of an extra puzzle, which we'll hear more of in a moment.

29. Dinghy Derby Race! This race was broken into several categories as well-- my parents even sponsored a dinghy for a race!

This is the first installment from Murder Mystery Weekend.  I have another full card of pictures, so more are coming! Stay tuned!
Let me know what you think!  Feel free to share!
